Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery

The Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery is located at the base of Table Rock Dam and is the largest trout hatchery in the Missouri Department of Conservation’s system.  Over a million trout, perfect for you to catch while fishing, are hatched annually.  That means over 3 million pounds of trout!  The hatched trout are released in Lake Taneycome and other Missouri rivers and lakes. The primary role for this facility is the production of rainbow and brown trout to meet the Conservation Department's management requirements. This facility also plays an important role in supplying eggs and fingerlings for grow-out at other Conservation Department trout production facilities.

At the fish hatchery there are conservation exhibits including other live reptiles and animals that call the Branson area home.  Seeing the millions of trout jumping is quite a site and kids love it!  The hatchery grounds are free to tour.  For a few quarters, you can get handfuls of fish food to feed the trout and really make them jump!
