Branson Salutes America's Veterans

Branson Doesn't Forget....

To many, Branson is known as the Live Music Capital of the World, but what you might not know is that Branson is also one of the most patriotic cities in America!  Branson has been awarded the first Stewards of Freedom Award by the National Flag Foundation.   The city has also received special recognition as the only city in the nation to collect funds for the World War II Memorial and was named by the White House as a template city for The National Moment of Remembrance.

Branson prides itself on how it treats the veterans who visit, and Veterans’ Week in Branson is a special time where the city can really make its veterans feel special.  Here are just a few highlights:

Walk in to almost any business in town wearing a cap or another article of clothing bearing your branch of the military, and you're likely to receive a hero's welcome from employees and patrons alike!  Nearly every show playing in Branson takes a few minutes to recognize the veterans and veterans' spouses in the audience.

There are several activities open throughout the season that are of special interest to veterans.  The Veteran's Memorial Museum is home to over 2000 military artifacts and exhibits and features one of the largest bronze memorial statues in the county. The Keeter Center at the College of the Ozarks has an impressive military exhibit located in their front lobby, and for a unique view of the Ozarks, make sure to sign up for a tour with Ride the Ducks!  At Ride the Ducks, you will board an authentic DUKW amphibious vehicle from World War II for a fun-filled 90 minute ride, both on land and water.  If you take the Table Rock Lake tour, you’ll even get to visit vintage U.S. military vehicles!

Special veterans events are scheduled throughout the year, but perhaps the most significant is Veteran's Week. Each November, Branson is the home of the largest Veteran’s Day celebration in the nation, bringing in over 50,000 veterans and their families from every branch of the United States Armed Forces.  Click here for a list of events happening this year.

Branson has welcomed and been a meeting place for Veterans and Veterans reunions for all branches of the military: Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine, Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserves, and Merchant Marines - active duty, inactive or retired. With its centralized location in America’s Midwest, Branson is the perfect location for military reunions, and it’s friendly and patriotic citizens will make every day feel like Veteran’s Day.
